Hello everyone!  Welcome to my website slaterweather.com!  Growing up in a suburb of New York City was a wonderful experience, especially since I loved the weather. As a youngster I spent hours and hours looking out my window watching the clouds, rain, snow, thunderstorms, blizzards passing overhead.  Those were the days!   My passion for weather was so great my parents thought I was crazy.  I've been riding that passion like a cowboy rides a horse my entire life.  I graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a degree in meteorology in 1987.  Never once considered a career in television in fact just the opposite as I made fun of TV weathermen all the time.  Then one day after graduation I took a job interview at a TV station in Lawton Oklahoma and my life changed forever.  Here I am nearly 25 years later still forecasting the weather on TV.  The truth is, I love my job and there is nothing better than doing what you love and making a living out of it.

This is home, where I grew up in Larchmont, NY.  Might not look like much but I loved that place!  What a town!  We walked or rode bikes to school, the park, beach, the pool, grocery store, post office, train station.  What a fantastic place to raise a family and live. You can see my room right there over the garage and this is where I watched the weather out my window for all those years.  This is where as a innocent little boy I absorbed all of what Nature had to offer.  You can learn so much by watching and observing.  I recognized weather patterns as a kid that I learned formally in college many years later.

Well all grown up now and currently the evening meteorologist for the Fox 25 Primetime News @9 and the Fox 25 News Late Edition @10pm KOKH Oklahoma City.  I've worked at 6 other TV stations in my career so far.  They include KOKI Tulsa, KTUL Tulsa, KJRH Tulsa, KSHB Kansas City, KOCO Oklahoma City and KSWO Lawton.  I've done it all from Chief Meteorologist to morning guy to the weekend shift. I have spent nearly my entire career covering Oklahoma's weather and I am known for my expertise in forecasting and storm coverage. My experience through the years tracking historic blizzards, crippling ice storms, record heat waves and EF-5 tornadoes combined with my degree in meteorology from the University of Oklahoma makes me an Oklahoma weather expert!

Outside of work I'm a family man.  Here's a pic of my beautiful wife Dayna and our three wonderful little boys Brayden, Nathan and Trey.  When I'm not at work I  spend as much time as possible with my family.  You see I believe my success has lots to do with my awesome childhood experience.  So it's  a high priority for me to provide for my family and make sure my children get that same if not better experience. I also have other interests and one of them is playing tennis!  I'm a huge tennis fan mainly because my dad played and got me out on the court when I was a kid.  My favorite players are...Borg, Sampras, McEnroe, Ivanisevic to name a few.  My favorite food is Italian, best vacation spot Outer Banks of North Carolina and I love the movie Jaws.

Take a look at some of my latest on air work from KOKH FOX 25 in OKC.  I think my passion for weather shows, but the most important part of my job is to get the forecast right.  I can't always get it right but I strive to predict the unpredictable and my experience and "knack" for the weather goes a long way.  See you on TV or under the wall cloud....
