WEATHER UPDATE

5/24/2015

Hello everyone!  More rain expected today with the heaviest rainfall from central into eastern Oklahoma and less rain over in western Oklahoma.  The main concern continues to be short term flash flooding and long term flooding as well on major rivers, lakes across a large portion of Oklahoma.  Although the threat for severe weather is limited due to cloud cover and rain cooled air there is still spin / shear throughout the atmosphere enough to warrant at least a low risk risk for severe weather.

The main trough of low pressure responsible for this latest batch of heavy rainfall will be moving northeast of our area tonight so the chances for widespread rainfall will be on the decrease as we go into Memorial Day.  However, another upper air disturbance coming in the flow means at least low chances for scattered showers and t'storms on Monday with a low risk for severe as well.

On the long range weather maps the rain chances don't go away either.  The southern plains continues in a somewhat unsettled upper air pattern with at least low rain chances everyday this week and some localized heavy rainfall and severe situations could develop.  Stay tuned to the weather folks!
