Here's my Good Friday forecast...In the wake of the cold front that sweeps across Oklahoma Thursday night expect mostly cloudy skies, strong north winds. much cooler temps and even a few light showers for Good Friday. I think temps may hold steady in the 50s and lower 60s with gusty north winds making it feel quite chilly for this time of year. The gusty north winds 20-35 mph could cause some issues for outside activities! The best chance for light rain showers will be across northern and northeastern Oklahoma but even some light rain into central Oklahoma seems possible.
Saturday looks like a beautiful day! However, it will start out down right chilly in the morning. Cool high pressure moving south behind that cold front will settle on top of Oklahoma Saturday morning. Expect clear skies, light winds and temps 30s and 40s Saturday morning so prepare to bundle up if you have outside plans. Maybe a little patchy frost in the normally colder low lying valley areas especially over in northeastern Oklahoma!
By Saturday afternoon the high slides to the east and winds will increase from the south by late in the day. This is why I'm forecasting a wonderful Saturday afternoon with bright blue skies, south winds and highs in the 60s! For sure get outside and enjoy Saturday afternoon the best day of the weekend weatherwise!
Here's the upper level flow Saturday night and we can already see our next weather disturbance over the Baja of CA moving quickly northeast in the general direction of Oklahoma. Unfortunately, this could impact outside Easter Sunday Plans! As this disturbance moves into Oklahoma late Saturday night into Sunday expect widespread clouds and rain across about the southeastern half of the state. So from around OKC to the south and east there is a decent chance for rain moving in very late Saturday night and then ending from west to east Sunday afternoon.
At this point I wouldn't cancel outdoor plans on Easter Sunday but definitely have back up plans ready to go especially in the morning for those Sunday morning services and Easter Egg Hunts! If you live in western and northwestern Oklahoma once again it appears you miss out on the rain!
Here's a look at one computer model forecasting rainfall late Saturday night and ending from west to east Sunday afternoon. Just a forecast model and nothing is set in stone but as you can see there is at least a chance for rain OKC points east!
I'll continue to keep you updated on my take for Easter Weekend. Oh and BTW it's looking like a classic April severe weather set up Wednesday and Thursday of next week. More on this in the days ahead.
